ETCH 02. | Ink and Colour
Bring Your Prints to Life with Vibrant Colour and Inventive Inking
Did you enjoy learning the fundamentals of drypoint and find yourself wanting to go further? Would you like to spend more time exploring colour and experimenting with inking? This course is designed for you—a chance to deepen your practice, develop your prints, and refine your inking techniques.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with plates you’ve already etched, as well as create new artworks if you wish. With a more self-directed approach, this course gives you the freedom to explore your ideas, with your tutor on hand to guide, support, and help refine your techniques along the way.
What You’ll Learn:
Colour Palette Development: Learn how to create and apply a custom colour palette to your prints.
Inking Techniques: Experiment with à la poupée, relief roll, monotype techniques, and hand colouring to enhance and transform your prints.
Press Technique: Print your designs using a traditional etching press to achieve beautifully detailed, professional-quality prints.
Throughout the course, you’ll have time to experiment, play, and push your creative boundaries in our purpose-designed studio. With a small class size and a supportive atmosphere, you’ll feel encouraged to explore new possibilities—and leave with a collection of original, handmade artworks you’ll be proud of.
Who’s It For:
This course is perfect for those who have completed an introductory course and want to build confidence with colour and inking techniques. If you’re brand new to drypoint etching, we recommend starting with Etch 01: Mark-Making Essentials before joining this course.

★★★★★
“A fabulous introduction to dry point etching. Renee is a wonderful teacher-explains and demonstrates clearly and is open to experimenting with our sometimes wayward ideas! Patient and encouraging when things aren’t going to plan…I was thrilled with my end result. I only wish the course had been twice as long!”
