CARVE 02. | Ink and Colour
Get Creative with Colour and Transform Your Relief Prints into Vibrant Artworks.
Did you love the introductory course and find yourself wanting more? Ready to spend extra time exploring inking techniques, colour palettes, and ways to take your prints to the next level? This course is designed for you—a chance to dive deeper, experiment, and get creative with ink.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop prints from blocks you’ve already carved, as well as create new designs. With a more self-directed approach, this course gives you the freedom to follow your creative interests, with your tutor on hand to guide, encourage, and help you refine your work as you explore.
What You’ll Learn:
Colour Palettes: Build and apply your own custom colour palettes.
Ombré Inking: Create smooth, gradient effects for dynamic, eye-catching results.
Hand Colouring: Use watercolour to add beautiful depth and a personal touch to your prints.
Monotype Techniques: Discover methods for making one-of-a-kind prints with unique surface effects.
Press Technique: Print your work on our rare 1860 Albion Press and traditional etching press to achieve beautifully crafted, professional-quality prints.
You’ll have time to explore, refine, and experiment with these skills, crafting original artworks in our purpose-designed studio. With a small class size and supportive atmosphere, you’ll feel encouraged to try new ideas and will leave with a collection of original, handmade artworks you’ll be proud of.
Who’s It For:
This course is ideal for those who’ve completed an introductory course and are ready to explore colour and inking in more depth. If you’re new to relief printing, we recommend starting with Carve 01: Carving Essentials.
