Linocut is a classic method of relief printing where you carve your design into a block, ink it, and transfer it onto paper. In this workshop, you’ll explore carving and mark-making techniques to create your own unique designs that can be inked and printed.

To make the process enjoyable and accessible, we’ll use soft carving blocks—perfect for achieving fine details with ease. Our beautiful cast iron press will be used to transfer your artwork from block to paper, delivering clean, professional results.

Whether you’re new to printmaking or looking to refresh your skills, this course provides a fantastic opportunity to dive into a range of techniques in our purpose-designed studio.

Participants will learn in a small, supportive group and take home beautifully printed, original works of art. Students are encouraged to bring along any images or drawings they’d like to transform into prints.

COURSE DETAILS

One-day Workshop: 9:30am - 3:00pm | TBC, 2025

Location: The Armarie Room, Founders Park, Nelson

Instructor: Renee Hadlow

Experience Level: Beginner. Minimum age 16+

Limited to 6 places, bookings essential.

 

  • Materials and equipment are included in the course fee. Additional tools and materials can be purchased if required.

  • Bring your creative energy and some images or drawings that you would like to work from.

  • In the workshop wear closed toe shoes and some old clothes. Long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed when operating the printing presses.

  • Refunds or cancellations cannot be accepted within 72 hours of the course starting. You can however transfer your enrolment to another person who would like to participate.

  • The Armarie Room will reschedule any classes that cannot take place due to unforeseen circumstances.
