The Design:

Tegan and Carl had a clear sense of the style they were drawn to but were still exploring how to make the invitation feel personal. Together, we looked to the landscape surrounding The Black Barn as the starting point for the design.

Rather than illustrating the venue itself, I interpreted the landscape through texture and form. The silhouette of Mount Tarawera became the focal point of the design, while volcanic textures echo the mountain's rugged surface. Hand-drawn debossed lines inspired by the changing depths of Lake Tarawera add movement across the page. The result is a modern invitation with a subtle connection to the place where they chose to marry.
